Mike Smith signed a two year contract extension with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday. The deal, worth $4.4 million, demonstrates Tampa's commitment to making "Smitty" a significant part of the organization's plans moving forward.

Mike Ouzas: Toronto Maple Leafs

Trevor Cann: Colorado Avalanche

Chris Carrozzi: Atlanta Thrashers

Next week, Danny Taylor will head off to the Los Angeles Kings' camp as well.

Jason Missiean of the Peterborough Petes (OHL) and Chris Carrozzi of the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors (OHL) were drafted by the Montreal Canadians and Atlanta Thrashers respectively.

Chris Beckford-Tseu signed a two year contract with the Florida Panthers. He left the St. Louis Blues as a free agent.

Curtis Sanford signed a one year deal to return to the Vancouver Canucks.

Last week Mike Ouzas signed a two year deal with the Toronto Marlies (the Toronto Maple Leafs' farm club). Ouzas, having just graduated from University and fresh off leading his UNB team to consecutive National Finals, signed a try-out contract with the Marlies in early April.

Impressed with his work ethic, professionalism and ability, the Marlies rewarded "Ouzie" with a two year deal.

19 year old, Bryan Pitton signed an NHL contract with the Edmonton Oilers who drafted him in 2006. Pitton has progressed nicley over a three year OHL career with the Brampton Battalion.

This past season was his best. He  ended the regular season with a 2.54 GAA, a .911 save percentage and a league leading 4 shutouts. He led the league in playoff GAA (1.80) and ranked thrid in save percentage (.938).

He has impressed Edmonton with his conditioning and strong performance at each of his Oilers' training camps over the last two seasons.
