Taylor Called Up to NHL

Danny Taylor, a Los Angeles Kings prospect, got called up to the National Hockey League today after posting another shutout Wednesday night. Taylor plays for the Los Angeles Kings' AHL team, the Manchester Monarchs.

He made 31 saves in a 2-0 win last night for his fourth shutout of the season and was named the AHL's Third Star of the Night.

The 21 year old resident of Kingston, Ontario has put up great numbers this season in the AHL: a 2.40 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.

Smith Traded to Tampa

Mike Smith was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning yesterday from the Dallas Stars. There were two other players (Halpern and Jokinen) included in the deal that brought star forward Brad Richards to Dallas, but addressing Tampa's goaltending woes was the focal point of the trade. The second year NHLer is the man who the Lightning see as the answer to their struggles in goal.

The youngster from Kingston, Onatario, Canada will finally get a chance at being a number one goalie in the National Hockey League after apprenticing for the last season and a half under All Star Marty Turco....

Peters ECHL Goalie of the Week

Justin Peters was named the ECHL Goalie of the Week for November 26 - December 2. He went 3-0-0 for the week with a 1.67 GAA and a .959 save percentage.

Jeremy Smith To Play For Team USA

Jeremy Smith was named to the USA World Junior Hockey Team today. The team will compete over the Christmas Break for the world junior title.

The Brownstown, Michigan native plays for the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL. Smith, drafted in the second round last year by the Nashville Predators, presently leads the OHL with a .931 save percentage.

Jeremy was the recipient of USA Hockey's 2007 Goaltender of the Year Award.

Smith, Carrozzi, Pitton Have Big Weeks

Plymouth Whalers' goalie Jeremy Smith was named the OHL Player of the Week. Smith leads the OHL with a 93.3 save percentage.

Chris Carrozzi of the Mississauga St. Mikes Majors posted a 41 save shutout Friday night after coming back from a two week injury.

Brian Pitton, an Edmonton Oilers draft pick, continued his fine play for the Brampton Battalion on Sunday posting a 33 save shutout.
