Elkin Hired By Coyotes To Coach Their NHL Goalies

Jon Elkin has been named the new goaltending coach of the Arizona Coyotes. (For the press release click here).

It will be the first time since Mike Smith played in the OHL that Elkin will be working on a day-to-day basis with his long-time pupil. It also marks a return to the NHL as a coach. Jon's last NHL goalie coaching job was in 2000 with the Calgary Flames. In between NHL gigs, Elkin has been developing goalies through his year-round goaltending schools as well as with up to three OHL teams per year. Most recently, he has been the goalie coach for the Soo Greyhounds (OHL) working with Matt Murray, who went on to be this past season's AHL Goalie of the Year, Brandon Halverson, who was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 2nd round and earned a spot on the USA World Junior Team, as well as underage goalie Joseph Raaymakers, who is NHL Draft eligible in June 2016.
