Lots of Shutouts
Jon Elkin's Goalie Schools' students had a bunch of shutouts over the weeknd:
In the AHL, Matt Murray and Jordan Binnington posted clean sheets. On Friday, Murray and his Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins beat Arizona's AHL team 3-0. Matt made 23 saves for his league leading 6th sutout of the season. He also leads the American Hockey League in goals against average (1.79) and is third in save percentage (.932). Murray is playing in his rookie professional season after being signed out of the OHL by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Friday also saw Jordan Binnington post a shutout. He made 29 stops for the St. Louis Blues' AHL squad in a 1-0 win over Edmonton's AHL team.
Moving onto the Ontario Hockey League, Brandon Halverson of the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds rocked two shutouts in a row. He helped blank the Plymouth Whalers on Friday 5-0 making 33 saves. On the holiday Monday he turned aside all 30 shots he faced in a 6-0 victory over the Sarnia Sting. Halvy is a second round draft pick of the New York Rangers.
