Major shut down Whalers
On saturday, the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors bounced back after a thumping the prior night, by beating the second place Plymouth Whalers 2-0. The shutout was earned by newly acquired goaltender, Brandon Maxwell.
Maxwell showed tougness by rebounding with an exceptional performance after being pulled in Friday night's loss against his old team, the Sarnia Sting. The Sarnia game was a 7-1 romp by the Sting and ex Majors goalie JP Anderson who played a technically strong game in the win over his old teamates.
While Anderson gained a shutout in his first game after the goaltending swap that saw him exchanged for Maxwell at the start of January, Maxwell came through with the donut in his fourth game with his new team.
The shutout was well earned. Brandon turned aside many quality chances on his way to a 24 save shutout performance and the game's First Star.
