Tyson Teichmann was the first goalie chosen in this year's OHL draft. The Quinte Red Devils Minor Midget goaltender had a 1.64 GAA and 6 shutouts this past season. He lead his team to the OMHA Championships.
"Teich's" selection by the Belleville Bulls in the first round marked the second year in a row a Jon Elkin's Goalie Schools student was the first goalie chosen in the OHL draft. Last year Kevin Bailey was taken in the first round by the Oshawa Generals. Both Bailey and Teichmann had the further honor of being the only goalies whose names were called in the first round.
Coincidently, both are Belleville, Ontario natives. Jon Elkin's Goalie Schools has a long tradition of developing Belleville area goaltenders begining with Andrew Raycroft when he was a young teen.
Tyson is fervently passionate about goaltending and posesses a tremendous work ethic. Technically and positionally sound, Teichmann is both poised and competitive in the net.
Congratulations to Tyson and all Jon Elkin's Goalie Schools students chosen in the OHL draft this past Saturday. The work is just beginning!
