Jeremy Smith recorded a 50 save shutout Sunday to help his Niagara Ice Dogs team stay alive in OHL playoff action. Despite being outshot 50-22 by the heavily favorite Belleville Bulls, Niagara earned a 1-0 victory. The Bulls now lead the best of seven series 2-1.
The Ice Dogs have been outshot in all three games giving up at 45 shots per game. In the previous series against Ottawa, Niagara gave up at least 40 shots in 5 of the 7 games.
Smith, a second round draft pick of the Nashville Predators, was instrumental in pulling off the 7 game first round upset against of the Ottawa 67s.
