Shawn Sirman achieved a noteworthy accomplishment this past week receiving a hockey scholarship to NCAA Division I powerhouse University of Maine.
Maine's coach, Tim Whitehead, was attracted by Sirman's strong fundamentals, consistency, competitiveness, mental toughness and overall play that has helped his team reach the Provincial Junior A finals. The Kingston Junior A squad presently holds a 3-2 game advantage over Oakville. Game 6 will be played in Kingston Tuesday night.
Sirman's .930 save percentage, 2.43 GAA and 3 shutouts are a large reason for his team's playoff success. Shawn's playoff drive caps an Allstar season in which he lead most goaltending categories and was selected to play for Canada in international competition.
