Smith Shuts Out Rangers

Mike Smith continues to provide the Tampa Bay Lightening with the type of goaltending they need to stay competitive. He was named the first star of the match for the second game in a row making 20 saves for his third shutout of the season and sixth of his young career. "Smitty" has stopped 55 of 56 shots faced in the last two games.

The Rangers had lost only once in regulation in their last fourteen games but Smith was up to the task. He almost scored a goal with the Rangers down 1-0 late in the game and their goaltender lifted for the extra attacker. His shot drifted wide but was converted by a teammate for the 2-0 victory. Smith scored a goal in his first professional game: a 2-0 win in the ECHL.

Testimonial

"As both a parent and a coach I was very pleased with not only the experience and knowledge that Jon was able to pass on to my son, but what I found most notable was Jon's ability to communicate with each individual and get the most out of each goaltender. I have known Jon for many years but to see him work first-hand with my son was very encouraging. My son went home each day more enthusiastic and passionate for the position then when he arrived. Great job Jon."
